The peach probably originated in China and then spread westward through Asia to the Mediterranean countries and later to other parts of Europe.
The skin of most ripe peaches is velvety or fuzzy; peaches with smooth skins are nectarines. Most peach types generate that many fruits, so not all peaches will fully develop. These underdeveloped fruits shed naturally, about a month to six weeks after full bloom, or removed by hand.
Peaches and nectarines are the same species, even though they commercially are fresh fruits. The skin of nectarines lacks the fluffy hair that peach-skin has; they think that a mutation in a single gene controls the hair or no-hair difference between the two.
The Yellow Peaches are a fruit tree grown in the colder regions of the world. Yellow-fleshed varieties are especially rich in vitamin A.
Small to medium-sized, peach trees seldom reach 6.5 meters (21 feet) in height, but usually kept between 3 and 4 meters by pruning. The Peachtree leaves are shiny green, shaped in a lance form, and pointed.
